Tämän päivän lanka on vaalean keltainen väri, joka on värjätty haavankeltajäkälällä.
Se on värjätty tavallisella keittomenetelmällä, vaikka haavankeltajäkälällä voi saada myös muita värejä ammoniakkimenetelmällä. Vaaleankeltaisia värejä tulee monistakin kasveista, mutta ihastelen tämän langan pehmeää väriä ja varsinkin sen tuoksua. Jäkälän tuoksu on tarttunut lankoihin ja pidän siitä kovasti. Puut, joista nämä jäkälät oli kerätty, on kaadettu, ja lanka on myös muisto niistä puista.
IN ENGLISH
Today's yarn is light yellow, corn colour, which I have dyed with lichen Xanthoria parietina. I have dyed it with normal boiling water method, though with this lichen also other colours could be possible with using ammonia method. Many plants can give light yellow, but I love the warm colour of this yarn, and especially the scent of it. Lichens give their own peculiar scent to the yarns which I like very much. Trees from which these lichens were collected, are now felled, so this yarn is also a memory of them.
