Blue nails Siniset kynnet

In English
Last week I dyed with the rest of my japanese indigoes (Polygonum tinctorium) that grew in the greenhouse, and besides nice blue yarn, I got also blue nails o my left hand:)
I had 700grams of fresh leaves and I cut them to small pieces with scissors. I had lost my other rubberglove, and I thought I didn't need it anyway (I would only cut holes in them when cutting the leaves), so the hand where I held the leaves was without the glove. Last time three weeks ago when I dyed with these plants previously I had no problem with blue staining my nails when cutting the leaves, but it seems there was more indigo in the leaves now. The leaves felt also kind of "oily", which I didn't notice earlier so much. As my hand was already blue after cutting the leaves, I didn't bother to try to find that missing rubberglove for kneading the leaves either.

I had put the cut leaves to cold water where I had added vinegar so that the pH was 3, and now I started to knead the leaves between my hands, first for 10 minutes, and then I strained the liquid. I noticed that the pH was now 4. I added more cold water and vinegar to the leaves and kneaded them for another 10 minutes, strained and repeated this for third time, now I kneaded only for 5 minutes. It is slow and tedious work, besides I wanted to put the yarns to the bath as long as it was very cold. I don't really know if this is important??
Basically I did this the same way as I had described in my earlier posting in July 31st.
To the strained bath I put 200grams of dry yarn, one skein of white yarn and one skein of light grey yarn. I let them sit in the bucket for one hour, then took them out and aired for another hour. They were now nice turqoise, the grey yarn is on the right.

Laitoin hapettuneet langat uudelleen liemeen taas tunniksi. Liemen väri oli muuttnut jo aika tumman vihreäksi.
In English
I put the yarns to the bath again for one hour, the color of the bath was now quite dark green.

Toisen värjäystunnin jälkeen langat olivat jo paljon sinisempiä, hienoa!
In English
After the second hour in the bath the yarns were already much bluer, great!

In English
After airing the yarns for one hour, I put them in the bath for the third time, again for one hour and then airing. Now the color hadn't changed so much, maybe it is a little deeper. The brighter blue in left is also dyed with japanese indigo, but the "normal" way, so at this stage the direct dyed yarns look more grayish blue.

In English
I put another two skeins of white yarn to the bath to soak for the night, 12 hours. In the morning the bath was quite blue and the yarns turned out nice light blue.

In English
I waited four days before I washed the yarns. I was surprised that a lot of color washed out and I had to rinse the yarns much more than the previous direct dyed yarns to get clear rinsing water.
The yarns are now much lighter color than before washing. It seems that a lot of pigment didn't stick to the yarn and was lost. I think cutting and kneading took so much time that the bath was dark green/blue sooner than the first time, when I had less leaves to process. Maybe this had something to do with the lost pigment?? Any ideas?
The result is nice blue, but with the amount of fresh leaves I should have gotten more and darker, I think. My nails are still blue:)

THE USUAL WAY OF DYEING WITH FRESH LEAVES OF JAPANESE INDIGO
Then I dyed the traditonal way with fresh leaves, also from the greenhouse, and now I had 500grams of leaves. The dyeing is similar to the dyeing with fresh woad but there are important differences, which I luckily found in the archives of natural dyes discussion group and I also got good advice from fellow dyers. Whatever would I do without the internet! Thank you everyone for sharing your experiences and knowledge:)
I put the whole fresh leaves to a glassjar and poured tapwater over them, the temperature was about 45C. I then put the jar to a big kettle filled with water like a double boiler. According to the recipe the temperature should raise slowly during two hours to 70C, not higher.
After the first hour the temperature of the water in my double boiler was 60C and after the second hour it was 65C. After the first hour I noticed that the water level in the jar had dropped, and so I added some more to fill the jar. Now when I think about it, I don't know it that was right or wrong??

In English
After two hours the liquid in the jar was still quite clear, in the top of the jar it was bluish. I was a little worried because according to the recipe the color should have turned to sherry coloured and the leaves more olive and I didn't notice very much change in my jar. What do you think?
In English
After two hours I strained the liquid to a kettle and as soon as it went through the sieve and hit the bottom of the kettle, it turned blue with blue froth! What a relief:) I added 50grams (about 5 tablespoons) of washing soda to the liquid and it turned to almost black. Even though there was already blue froth, I took the food mixer (I don't know what it is called in English) and used it for 5 minutes. Right from the beginning there was a lot of dark blue froth and even though the recipe said to mix for 10 minutes, I only did it for 5 minutes, as there seemed to be no change after couple of first minutes. Should I have continued it longer??
In English
After mixing I added more water to the kettle (total was now about 8 litres), the temperature was 45C. I now added 20grams (two tablespoons) of sodium hydrosulfite and let it be for 30 minutes. The temperature was now 50C.
On top of the liquid there was a dark blue oil-like sheen, but when I added 200grams of white yarn to the bath you can see in the picture how it was now pale yellow.
Langat tulivat kauniin kirkkaan sinisiksi.
Samassa liemessä tuntui olevan vielä väriä jäljellä, joten laitoin sinne yhden valkoisen vyydin ja toisen pietaryrtillä keltaiseksi värjätyn vyyhdin, annoin värjääntyä 20min ja hapetin.
Väriä riitti kolmanteenkin värjäykseen, 100g valkoista lankaa.
Narulla nämä ovat oikealta vasemmalle.
In English
I left the yarns in the bath for 15 minutes, then oxidized them for 30 minutes. I dipped these yarns twice more to the bath, 10 minutes each time and oxidized 20 minutes in between. They became beautiful bright blue.
There seemed to be color left in the bath, so I put 100grams of white yarn and 100grams of yeallow yarn dyed with tansy, to the bath for 20 minutes an came up with nice green and light blue.
There was still color left for yet another 100grams of white yarn, and that came out very light blue.
All these yarns are in the picture from right to left.
Viimeisin värjäys tuli aika vaaleaksi, liemi näytti nyt samean keltaiselta, ei kirkkaalta, niinkuin alussa. Eli 500g lehtiä värjäsi 500g sinistä lankaa:)
Pesin langat seuraavana päivänä ja niistä irtosi hyvin vähän väriä, jo toinen huuhteluvesi oli kirkasta.
In English
After the last dyeing the bath looked now muddy yellow, and it didn't seem to give any more blue. From 500grams of fresh leaves I got 500grams of blue yarn:)
I washed these yarns the next day and very little pigment left in the washing, already the second rinsing water was clear.
In English
I put the strained leaves back to the glassjar and poured warm water over them (50C) and let sit overnight. I though to try if there were any more pigments left in the leaves. In the morning the temperature was 25C and the liquid was reddish brown.
In English
After straining, adding washing soda and mixing for 10 minutes the liquid was bluish, but there was very little froth and even that was very light blue. Not promising.
I dyed with this 200grams of yarn and got very very pale blue, not good and I have already overdyed it.
So now I believe that most of the pigments are in that first extract:)
Otherwise I am very pleased with these experiments. As these were my first attempts to dye with fresh leaves I am now more confident to try dyeing with bigger amount of leaves.

Leaves from apple tree Omenapuunlehdet

In English
Couple of weeks ago in a storm a big branch fell from an old apple tree, of course I though at once how I could now use the leaves for dyeing. In principle all kinds of tree leaves give some color, usually yellow, and most of them contain also tannins, so I am hoping the color would have also better lightfastness than most yellows, but it remains to be seen:) I couldn't find out the exact dye content of apple tree leaves.
I got 2,8kg of leaves from that branch. I poured boiling water over them and let them ferment for 5 days, and they really started to ferment, with bubbles and all:)

Molemmista on säästetty näytteet valonkestotestejä varten, sitten joskus:)
In English
After fermenting the liquid was quite pale yellow, but anyway I decided to try to dye with it without boiling the leaves. So I now strained the bath, added 500grams of yarn premordanted with alum and cream of tartar, and started to heat the bath. At first there wasn't much color but when the temperature got near 80Celsius, the yarns turned to bright and nice yellow. Different from for instance weld where the colors comes in low temperatures. I simmered the yarns for one hour before taking them from the bath. The result was upper color, 1978. It was very interesting that even though the bath didn't seem strong, it gave good color!

I poured more water over the strained leaves, let sit overnight and then boiled them slowly for about two hours and let cool again overnight. The bath was now darker yellow than the previous bath. I strained the leaves and added 500gr of premordanted yarn. After simmering for one hour the color was the one below in the picture, no1979. The difference doesn't show well in the picture, the latter color is not so bright, but duller and stronger too, than the color I got without boiling the leaves.
I have saved samples of these yarns for lightfastnesstests, someday:)
I am very pleased with the colors, good yellows by themselves and they would give nice greens overdyed with indigo.

Purple Tulips Violetteja tulppaaneja

Torin ja värjäysten lomassa olen neulonut uuden version Tulppani- lapasista, kokenillilla värjätyillä väreillä. Tätäkin väritystä on nyt myös saatavilla tarvikepakettina.

In English
Between market days and dyeings at home I have knitted Tulips- mittens with new colors, these purple colors are dyed with cochineal. Tulips- design is now available also with these colors.

In English

I finally got enough courage to try dyeing with my japanese indigos (Polygonum tinctorum). This first try was direct dyeing according to this recipe. Also Helen has written her experiences in her blog (I seem to follow her footsteps, I hope she won't mind). According to an article in Turkey Red Journal, here, the leaves are ready to dye when bruised spots in the leaves turn blue, and this had happened in my plants in the greenhouse, but I have read that this is not necessary.

In English
I took leaves from two plants that had grown in big pots in the greenhouse, they were 270grams, and put the stems to the compost.
In English
I cut the leaves small with scissors and put them to very cold water (in fact, I added some ice cubes to the water to keep it cold. I don't know how important this was but I did it anyway). Then I started to rub the leaves between my hands. I think the leaves were meant to crush as much as possible to release the dye molecules and enzymes which hydrolyze them, to the water.
I rubbed the leaves about 10 minutes or little less and then I added about 200ml vinegar (10%)to the water. I had forgotten to calculate how much I would need that (according to the recipe), and at this point I was in a little hurry:(

Below is the picture of the bath before straining it for the first time.

Ja alla kuva siivilöinnin jälkeen.

In English
And below how the bath looked after the first straining.

Sitten lisäsin lehtisilppuun vettä ja hieroin lehtiä lisää, reilut 5 minuuttia luultavasti, kello oli unohtunut sisälle. Toisen siivilöinnin jälkeen lehdet olivat jo menneet aika paljon kasaan.

In English
Then I added more water to the leaves and continued to knead them for little more than 5 minutes, I don't know the exact time as I had forgotten my watch inside the house. After the second straining the leaves had lost a lot of volume.
Laitoin sitten liemeen 100g valkoista lankaa, kuivana, koska alkuperäisessä ohjeessa niin sanottiin. Ihmettelin sitä hiukan, mutta tein kuitenkin niin. Lanka sai olla kylmässä liemessä tunnin.

In English
I then put 100grams of white yarn to the cold bath, dry yarn like it was in the recipe. I wondered about that a little, but did it anyway. I left the yarn in the bath for one hour.

In English
While kneading the leaves, I had dropped some of them to my bare legs. I now noticed how I had blue color in my legs:)

Tunnin kuluttua liemi oli muuttunut tummemman vihreäksi.

In English
After one hour the bath had turned to darker green.

Lanka sai hapettua narulla tunnin.

In English
I let the yarn oxidize for one hour. It was very nice bluish green almost immediately and I was happily surprised.

In English
I put the yarn to the bath for another hour, then oxidized for one hour and to the bath for the third time for an hour. After the last oxidation the yarn was a very nice light blue!

I put a second white skein to the bath for the night, after 12 hours in the morning that yarn was also light blue! Little lighter and with a green tinge but a good color (in the middle). I had to try even one more skein, in the picture on the left, it is after one hour in the bath, it seems there is not much color left in the bath, even though it is still dark green.
I haven't washed these yarns yet, but they should be fast colors.

Celandine and Comfrey Keltamoita ja raunioyrttejä

Keltamokeltainen on melko valonkestävä viime kesäisten testien perusteella.
In English
In early June I dyed with celandine (Celidonium majus) like I did last year, when I wrote more about it, here
(scroll down to the bottom of the page). I dyed with common celandine which grows near our house almost like a weed, but I also got a celandine with more flower leaves from my friend, I'm very happy with it and planted it in my shade flowerbed. The picture of it is above.
I collected celandine before it started to flower, used 1kg of fresh leaves to 100grams of alum mordanted yarn and got yellow below. It is a little paler yellow than what I got last year, but nice anyway. And quite lightfast when I tested it last year.
The plants that I cut down in June have grown back again and are now flowering, I haven't tried to dye them now so I don't know if they would give color now.

Olen myös useana vuonna kokeillut värjätä raunioyrteillä. Meillä kasvaa kahta erilaista: sinikukkasellista, tarharaunioyrttiä (Symphytum asperum) ja vaaleampikukkasellista rohtoraunioyrttiä (Symphytum officinale), molemmat ovat isoja kasveja, joista olisi helppo saada paljon lehtiä.
In English
I have tried to dye with Comfrey many times in the past years. In my garden I have two kinds of it growing, the one with blue flowers is Symphytum asperum and the other one with paler flowers is common comfrey, Symphytum officinale. Both are big plants with lots of leafs to dye with.
In English
In Jenny Deans book Wild Color, there is a very nice picture of khaki green dyed with comfreys (alum mordant), and that is why I have tried to dye with comfreys many times over the years. I have collected leaves before flowering, sometimes after, with both species or ony with one and I have never gotten that khaki color.
This summer I tried again: collected leaves of common comfrey in early June, just before the flowers open. Poured boiling water over the leaves and let them steep overnight, then simmered them for two hours, strained and dyed with alum mordanted yarn, and got again pale beige, in the bottom picture. The grey yarns look a little greener, but it was a dissappointment again, I have overdyed these already with weld.
I used 1,5kg of fresh comfrey leaves/ 100grams of yarn so I think that should have been enough.
It would be very interesting to hear if anyone else had gotten khaki with comfrey.
On the other hand, there are so many plants that give good quite lightfast yellows, that there is no real need for me to use comfrey for dyeing, only the color in the book was so tempting:)

A little update Vähän kuulumisia

I am a little ashaimed not to have written here more, selling at the market, dyeing to have enough to sell there and for the mitten kits take all my time now.

Any way, I have all the mitten kits in stock (except Stripes and trees), but I can send mail only one day each week (because the market days are so long, the post office is closed by the time we get home), usually that day is in the beginning of the week. After second week in September the market slows down and I have more time, luckily then the mushroom season is at its peak:)

I have madder pots in the greenhouse fermenting and in the bottom picture there are first yarns dyed with madder in the greenhouse this summer. That is so good way to dye right now, all it takes is just stir the yarns once or twice every day and that's all. I have also oak barks and spruce cones soaking there in the warm. The weather has been unusually cool and cloudy here this summer, I have been waiting for warmer to start experimenting with fermenting indigo(6 weeks old stale urine all ready) as I understand it doesn't like low and changing temperatures, but soon I just have to start! On the other hand rainy days are good when I think about coming mushroom season:) Spring was so dry, almost 3 months of drought, that I was afraid for the mushrooms, but now it looks promising. This south-west corner of Finland where we live doesn't get so much rain as other parts, in most summers.

I have mordanted yarn, dyed with cochineal and indigo and with dried mushrooms from last year for the mitten kits, I have collected some garden plants for dyeing, weeded my japanese indigo (growing well in spite of the cold weather) and woad, and perhaps I can collect the first leaves soon. I tried crushing them with my fingers, but no blue showed yet.

I wanted to collect birch leaves for winter, but looks like again this summer I don't get around to do it, maybe there is still time. I have mordanted a batch of 10 white skeins which I will save for experimenting with different yellow yielding plants, so that I can compare the lightfastness better when I know that mordanting was the same. I have thought that at least weld, birch leaves, maybe some other tree leaves, goldenrod and some other plants from the garden. I have thought about this for a long time and now I have the yarn ready:)

This sounds like all I do is work, but when the work is interesting and dyeing exciting, it is perfect. And I like my garden, after a long day at the market, what is better than to sit in a quiet garden with only bird sounds around and watch the flowers.

Yesterday was the day I had been so nervously waiting all summer:
a Finnish gardening programme Puutarhaunelmat filmed an episode about natural dyeing in our garden. It comes out in television in the beginning of next summer, a year from now.
I talked about natural dyeing, then we prepared yarns for dyeing with the host of the programme (in the picture she is on the left, I am on the right), mordanted the yarns and started dyeing madder in the greenhouse, and many other things. We talked about dyeplants and I showed them the colors that I had gotten. I think the part where we did something and talked went ok, I even forgot that there was camera pointed at us, but when she did the formal interwiew, I think I forgot about half of what I wanted to say! Luckily it wasn't live and they cut it, I am sure they come out with something that can be shown:)
Even though it took all day yesterday, I think I said only a small part of all the interesting things about natural dyeing, there is so much to tell, and I am not used to performing in front of a camera. Afterwards you remember that some things should have been said otherwise or something got left out and so on, you know how it is. The most important things were there though. The weather was good and the flowers were blooming in my garden, so the surroundings were perfect:)
I have to give credit to the host of the programme and the camera team that the atmosphere was relaxed and I wasn't at all as nervous as I thought I would be. They were great!
Now I can go back to my normal routines and dyeings and tomorrow to the market, DH is there today. By the way, he was a great support yesterday.

Old madder Vanhaa krappia

Last fall I collected all the madder root pieces that I had used for dyeing in the greenhouse even though I thought they were already exhausted, and the last dyeing then was quite pale. They were in a big bucket in the shed and froze for some time during winter, but when the spring came they started to ferment, or at least I think so, there were bubbles. The color of the madder pieces was lovely dark red, not at all orange.
I took a bucketfull of these root pieces, put it in my dye pot, added more warm water and 400grams of white alum mordanted yarn. I let them soak for couple of hours before raising the temperature slowly to 70C, and then let it cool again slowly until next day. The yarns came out nice orangey red, stronger than I expected, the upper skein in the picture, no 1930.
So then I put more yarn to the pot, 500grams, and dyed the same way as with the first yarns. These came out little lighter color and not orange in them, the lower yarn, no 1931. In the picture the difference doesn't show as in reality.
I still dyed 500grams of yarn with the same madder, but now the color was paler, a good color as a base for multicolored yarns:)
So, from now on, I'll save all the madder pieces, they contain surprisingly much dye and after soaking and possibly fermenting, more dye comes available.
It has been unusually cold summer here so far (just 20C or less at daytime and at nights around 10C), but I have started my madder pots in the greenhouse, more about that later. With indigo fermenting I am still waiting for warmer days and nights...

Indigo

Englanninkielisissä kirjoissa on hyvinkin perusteellisia ohjeita, ehkä parhaimpia J.NLilies'n The Art and Craft of Natural Dyeing, jossa indigovärjäyksestä on melkein 50 sivua.
Myös viime viikolla saamani vihkonen (25 sivua tekstiä, ei kuvia), Helen Melvinin The Colour of the Sea and Sky, The Art of Indigo Dyeing on hyvä tiivistelmä erilaisista tavoista värjätä indigolla.

The picture above is from indian indigo plant, Indigofera tinctoria. I have grown it from seed, sown in March. I got only one seedling from a packet of seeds and it grows very slowly even in the greenhouse. It looks very different from japanese indigo (Polygonum tinctoria) or woad (Isatis tinctoria) and yet they all contain indigotin which gives blue color.

Dyeing with indigo is different than all other natural dyeing, there are good recipes in many dye books. The best ones in my books are in J.NLilies The Art and Craft of Natural Dyeing, almost 50 pages about indigo and how to dye with it. Also the booklet I got last week, Helen Melvins The Colour of the Sea and Sky, The Art of Indigo Dyeing is something I can recommend. It doesn't have pictures, but all 25 pages are full of recipes and her own experiences with indigo. It is simple and understandable and easy to follow, I liked the troubleshooting part especially.

In the internet, there are so many sites with information about indigo, so I thought to try to collect here links to them. I'll add more as I come up with them and if you know good pages, please tell me:)
These are not in any special order, just how I happened to run into them.

Plants in my greenhouse Kasveja kasvihuoneessa

Here are couple of pictures of my japanese indigos in my greenhouse, the indigos are the ones on the right, there is thyme in the left side pot. I planted some of them in big pots, some in bed in the greenhouse and rest in bed outside when I ran out of room in the greenhouse. I read somewhere that they should be grown like tomatoes, lots of warmth, water and nutritients (with me it means a lot of compost as I garden organically) so that is why some are in the greenhouse along with my tomatoes. So far the ones outside seem to be growing as good as the ones in the greenhouse, but I'll see by the end of the summer how I do it next year.
I have also my big buckets in the greenhouse ready for madder and other things. When (if) the weather gets sunnier and warmer I want to try fermenting indigo in the greenhouse. For that I have ordered a book about indigo dyeing from FieryFelts, it is always good to read other experiences and anyways one can never have too many books:)

Mordanting Puretuksia

Päivät menevät hirmuista vauhtia:)
Olen mm purettanut viime viikkoina lankaa valmiiksi värjäystä varten.

Days go so fast:)
Amog other things I have premordanted yarns so that they are now ready to be dyed. I have previously written that for environmental reasons I use only alum or iron for mordanting. Both are metal salts to which the dye molecules attach themselves and thus the colors are more permanent and also stronger, as they also give more places for the dye molecules to grab. Without the mordants most of the colors are usually paler and not so light - or washfast.
There are exceptions: colors from plants that contain tannins are fast and propably the tannins also help other dyes to attach to the wool so they could be used as a substitute to metal salts for some plant dyes. But using also alum with tannin bearing plants improves lightfastness.
Also some mushrooms and lichens contain dyes which can be used without alum.
With alum I use cream of tartar which is not a mordant but an assist which helps alum to stay soluble longer and thus more of the alum attaches to the fiber, slower and more evenly. Cream of tartar makes the bath more acidic, when I premordant, this is not a problem, but if you mordant simultaneously with dyeing, then the change in pH might change the color with some dyes.
Alum doesn't change the color you get from the plants but iron is often used after the dyeing to sadden or darken the color. To my knowlege being a metal salt it attaches the dye molecules to the fibers permanently, not just acts as a modifier like e.g. vinegar or ammonia even though the word modifier is often used about iron also. According to many books, iron (as well as copper, which gives green color to the yarn by itself) improves the lightastness of naturally dyed fibers and I have the same experience, the yarns mordanted with iron are very lightfast.
I mordant my yarns prior to the actual dyeing, I think the colors are faster and also in most cases stronger than if I would mordant simultaneously with dyeing. I use 12 grams of alum per 100g of yarn (12%wog) and 5grams of cream of tartar per 100grams yarn (5%wog).
This is how I do it: I put yarns to the luke warm water and start to heat it. I weight the alum and cream of tartar and put them in almost-boiling water in another smaller kettle. Then I take the yarns up, and add the dissolved mordants. Then I raise the temperature to 80-90C (almost boiling, but not quite), keep it there for one hour and then let the yarns cool in the bath until at least the next day.
I let them dry and before I dye them I soak them for at least couple of hours so that they are throughly wet and rinse properly, to get all the unattached mordants away (this is important!), before I put them to the dye bath.
In Natural Dye-list there has been discussion whether to dry the mordanted yarns or to store them damp and one argument for the keeping them damp was that then the mordants have more time to attach better to the fibers. This seems logical and also I have the experience that if I keep the yarns in the mordant bath for days insted of only one hour or one day, the color has been stronger, and I like to think more lightfast, but I haven't done any tests to prove that.
Because of the practical reason I let the yarns dry, I don't have enough cold storage space to store them damp:(
I try to have always enough yarns premordanted so that I don't have to put them straight to the dyepot from the mordanting pot, and I like to believe that also storing them dry is helpful.
I use the same mordanting pot later on, and now I use less alum, about half of the original amount as there propably is some unattached alum left. After about three or four times with smaller amount of mordants, I then use 12%wog again.
I have used iron mostly in the end of the dyeing and I put it straight to the dye pot in the end of dyeing for 15 minutes, 1 gram of iron per 100grams of yarn. I don't use alum at all with iron, only iron and the lightfastness has been really good! Better than almost any yellow mordanted with alum (except you cannot get yellow with iron, this was just to compare the lightfastness). The colors I get this way are also darker than if I used alum first and then iron. You get the same result if you use iron pot for dyeing (and no alum), then the iron from the pot acts as a mordant. Be careful with the amount of iron you use, if there is too much of iron in the water, (it doesn't matter if it has come from the powder from the store or the rust from your pot, or iron water from rusty nails) wool gets harsh and brittle. Because of this I wouldn't leave yarns in the iron pot for longer than necessary.
You can also premordant with iron, but then it is advisable to add also glauber salt (30%wog) and cream of tartar (5%wog) to slower the mordanting process and get more level mordanting. On the other hand, if you keep the yarns moving in the bath, that also does the trick.

This week we started our summer at the market in Helsinki. You can find us there for sure Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays. In other weekdays we are mostly at the market, too, but there is always one or two days per week when we are at home and take care of mail orders, usually that day is Tuesday or Wednesday. This week the mailing day at home is Thursday.
You can find me at the market always on Fridays, in other days we take turns with my husband so I can't say which day I'll be there for sure and which day DH.
