For the best ...Hi Ineke, thank you for commenting:)
For the best red with madder I use the same weight of madder as fiber. The wool is premordanted with alum (12%), no CoT which makes the color more orange with madder. Madder is pieces, soaked overnight in room temperature, then I add more warm water and wet mordanted wool and raise the temp to 60°C and keep it that for one hour ( 65 at the most), and then I let it cool and keep the fiber in the bath until next day. It is important also to move the fiber many times in the beginning of the dyeing so that the color come even.
I hope this helps you:)Leenahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14266878515009058403noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9129357734481422196.post-52242632228294264982015-04-20T12:59:12.117+03:002015-04-20T12:59:12.117+03:00I love how experimental you are with your natural ...I love how experimental you are with your natural dyes! I really like reading about it and trying it out for myself.
I've been trying to get that lovely red colour with madder, but have not yet been able to. I only seem to be able to get a deep orange (I live in the north of Holland).
How many % of madder have you used and dit you mordant the wool before or after?
Thankyou so much!
Love, InekeWol 'n Draadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11989583012447978557noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9129357734481422196.post-16709612055428120562015-04-20T08:52:00.458+03:002015-04-20T08:52:00.458+03:00Thanks:)Thanks:)Leenahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14266878515009058403noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9129357734481422196.post-54200579007529559572015-04-19T22:28:00.430+03:002015-04-19T22:28:00.430+03:00Thank you for continuing these studies.
