Fortunately all these dye cortinarius musrooms belong to Dermocybe-subspecies of Cortinarius mushrooms and these are not very poisonous. If eaten, they may cause stomac ache, but nothing serious, or this is how I have understood from Finnish mushroom experts.
I usually dye with mushrooms outside so that all the fumes from boiling have lots of air where to disappear (and they smell bad too). This time of year I dye with mushrooms in the storehouse where there is good ventilation (holes in the walls), not inside in the kitchen. I also use rubber glove when dyeing, but that is mostly because of the hot baths.
I store the dried mushroms away from the foodstuffs.

It is important to know which mushrooms you pick, even for dyeing.Leenahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14266878515009058403noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9129357734481422196.post-53881115464687970832008-01-23T22:24:00.000+02:002008-01-23T22:24:00.000+02:00Leena,How do you deal with the poisonous mushrooms...Leena,

How do you deal with the poisonous mushrooms? In a field guide I looked at recently it said some Cortinarius were "deadly".

KariStrawberryCreekhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05153633847333187692noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9129357734481422196.post-45228794975107245382008-01-21T23:45:00.000+02:002008-01-21T23:45:00.000+02:00Voi harmi, että on talvi!
