That is something I should try because I think that the extraction stored in the jar stays good for a few months but for a longer time (more than six months) it is not so good, and I haven't gotten as blue from it as when it is fresh. Maybe my storing conditions were not so good, and also I think the pH in the jar should not drop to neutral or acidic. If it becomes acidic then the whole liquid may get mold which is not good.Leenahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14266878515009058403noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9129357734481422196.post-23229497109189376842017-11-19T19:16:29.737+02:002017-11-19T19:16:29.737+02:00Have you tried extracting the indigo from Persicar...Have you tried extracting the indigo from Persicaria and woad, instead of dyeing directly with the leaves? That's what I do, mainly because it's then available for dyeing when I need it, rather than having to dye just when the plant is ready. Also, it would get around the problem of only getting pale shades when the dye content of the leaves is low.
Best wishes. We never have that hot even in the summer. You have such a long growing season, I envy that.
Thank you for the offer, do you still have my address?
Leenahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14266878515009058403noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9129357734481422196.post-54424990790342445302017-10-29T11:38:31.703+02:002017-10-29T11:38:31.703+02:00Hi Louisa, there is always next year:)

But anyway I got blues so I'm happy with it.Leenahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14266878515009058403noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9129357734481422196.post-91819790347371771192017-10-29T03:21:46.445+02:002017-10-29T03:21:46.445+02:00Oh, my! I still want to send you some wood dyes to try, in small quantity. Mine didn’t do very well this year either. We had a cold dark and very wet spring followed by a hot dry summer. I had trouble giving them enough water even when I watered every day and they never recuperated from the spring. Oh well. The did flower earlier and I have plenty of seeds for next year! Try again, eh?Louisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11685532773952211627noreply@blogger.com
